AIT&L houses one of the best health sciences book, journal, and artifact collections in the country, including over 285,000 volumes and access to over 3000 electronic health-related journals. Your gift will help us meet the ever expanding information needs of the students, researchers, and clinicians of the UC Medical Center.
When a material gift of significant value is given to AIT&L, the donor signs a deed of gift, which legally transfers both physical and intellectual ownership of the material to the University of Cincinnati. With this deed the University has literary rights to unpublished manuscripts as well.
The donor should seek professional advice about the tax deductibility of gifts to AIT&L. The University cannot provide an appraisal for a gift it receives. Most reputable dealers in rare or antiquarian books can provide appraisals.
AIT&L can help a donor with the logistics of delivering materials to the Medical Center. Gifts normally are mailed or hand-delivered. However, in the case of large or very valuable gifts, an AIT&L representative will pick them up.
AIT&L librarians use their best professional judgment to select donated materials that will benefit the students, faculty, and staff of the Medical Center. Gifts that duplicate materials in our collection or are judged to be out-of-scope will be discarded.
