ACP's PIER: The Physicians' Information and Education Resource w/ AHFS Dl Essentials is a point-of-care, web-based decision-support tool that contains 425 modules that provide guidance and information on more than 300 diseases and conditions. PIER modules also contain information on ethical and legal issues, complementary and alternative medicine, and screening, prevention and procedures. AGRICOLA provides citations to literature in botany, forestry, human and animal nutrition, and environment. 1970 to present. (Free)

Cochrane Library is a unique source of reliable and up-to-date information on the effects of interventions in health care. The Cochrane Library consists of a regularly updated collection of evidence-based medicine databases.

Current Index to Statistics is a bibliographic index to publications in statistics and related fields. References are drawn from 111 core journals that are fully indexed, non-core journals from which articles are selected that have statistical content, proceedings and edited books, and other sources.

Current Protocols in Bioinformatics responds to the need for both a current and updateable source of bioinformatics methodology. This publication provides access to a full range of bioinformatics protocols written by globally-recognized experts in the field, and that these protocols are updated and revised as new developments and innovations occur.

Current Protocols in Cell Biology is an essential reference for researchers who study the relationship between specific molecules and genes and their location, function and structure at the cellular level. Electronic Theses and Dissertations (OhioLINK) is a free online database of masters' theses and doctoral dissertations from graduate students in participating Ohio colleges and universities.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ProQuest) includes full-text to over 800,000 dissertations from 1997 forward. The database also includes full-text to all UC dissertations published in electronic format. In addition, the database includes citations to dissertations from 1861-Present and 350-word abstracts from 1980 forward. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts.

Encyclopedia of Life Sciences includes over 12 million words, 4,000 articles, 7,500 illustrations, 180,000 index entries and 26,000 links. It is constantly updated online.

Entrez contains the complete protein & nucleotide sequence data from GenBank, the EMBL Data Library, the PIR International Protein Sequence Database, SWISS-PROT, Protein Data Bank, & the PRF & DDBJ files. (Free)

ERIC indexes education-related literature, beginning in 1966. The ERIC database is the world’s largest source of education information, containing abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. The database covers descriptions and evaluations of programs, research reports and surveys, curriculum and teaching guides, instructional materials, position papers, and resource materials. In 1993, ERIC began indexing education-related books, including the output of major publishers.

Evidence-Based Complementary Medicine (scroll down to find the link) contains evidence-based information on herbs and natural remedies and the conditions they may be used to treat, as well as known or suspected drug interactions. The guide addresses the amount and type of evidence to support use of these herbs and supplements, as well as how patients may be using them regardless of current evidence.

Faculty of 1000-Biological Sciences is the next generation literature awareness tool. It is a revolutionary new online research service that will comprehensively and systematically highlight and review the most interesting papers published in the biological sciences, based on the recommendations of a faculty of well over 1000 selected leading researchers.

Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HaPI) contains descriptions of information on instruments used in assesssing the health and behavior of infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. 1985 to present. Note: On the first screen, click on "Continue" in the upper left hand corner.

Health and Wellness Resource Center delivers current reference material as well as full-text magazines, journals and pamphlets from a wide variety of authoritative medical sources.  A resource for consumers, students, and professionals.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides nearly 590 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Also featured are abstracts and indexing for over 627 journals. Updated on a daily basis.

Industrial and Applied Microbiology Abstracts (Microbiology A) includes significant findings and practical applications in agricultural, food and beverage, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries are assembled, making it an indispensable resource for research laboratories and academic libraries in any of these areas.

IPA (International Pharmaceutical Abstracts) Online provides information from over 750 pharmaceutical, medical and health-related journals published worldwide from 1970 to the present. To get to full text articles, look for the Article Linker icon.

ISIHighlyCited.com gives research professionals the ability to search for top researchers by name, category, country, or institutional affiliation. These individuals are the most highly cited within each category for the period 1981-1999. (Free)

ISI Web of Knowledge contains citations to more than 5,300 of the leading science and technical publications from all over the world. 1980 to present.

Journal Citation Reports is a comprehensive resource that allows you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn from over 7,500 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300 publishers in over 60 countries. JCR can show you: most frequently cited journals in a field, highest impact journals in a field, and largest journals in a field. Another option is to take a look at SCImago Journal & Country Rank , an open access database that generates citation statistics and also calculates impact factors using data from Scopus®, a database created by Elsevier and to which UC subscribes. MedicLatina is a Spanish language collection of medical research and investigative journals published by renowned Latin American medical publishers. This database provides access to full text for nearly 100 peer-reviewed medical journals in native Spanish. A wide range of topics are covered including neuroscience, cardiology, nephrology, biomedicine, clinical research, pediatrics, human reproduction, clinical pathology, cancer research, and hematology.

MEDLINE (OhioLINK) provides citations and abstracts to the international literature on biomedicine. It is updated monthly. 1953 to present.

NLM Gateway - a single Web interface that searches multiple NLM retrieval systems.

Mental Measurements provides users with a comprehensive guide to over 2,000 contemporary testing instruments. Designed for an audience ranging from novice test consumers to experienced professionals, the MMY series contains information essential for a complete evaluation of test products within such diverse areas as psychology, education, business, and leadership.

Natural and Alternative Treatments consists of articles on Herbs and Supplements, Conditions, Drug Interaction, Alternative Therapies and Homeopathy. These articles are entirely based on double-blind, placebo-controlled studies and other forms of meaningful scientific evidence. At present, more than 12,000 such studies are cited in the material, and new studies are added as they appear. This evidence-based content has been developed and reviewed by a team of physicians and pharmacologists with the goal of providing reliable information without exaggeration or misrepresentation.

Natural Standard Database is a database of complementary and alternative therapy monographs. Using a comprehensive methodology and reproducible grading scales, information is created that is evidence-based, consensus-based, and peer-reviewed, tapping into the collective expertise of a multidisciplinary Editorial Board.

Nature Precedings is a free open access service from NPG that provides a way for researchers to share preliminary findings, solicit community feedback, and claim priority over discoveries. (Free)

New! NetAnatomy is designed to teach human anatomy to students of the health professions, including undergraduate medical, health sciences, and nursing students.

NTIS is a source for accessing the latest U.S. government-sponsored research and worldwide scientific, and technical information. NTIS is the central source for the sale of unclassified and publicly available information from research reports, journal articles, data files, computer programs and audio visual products from Federal sources. Subjects covered includes Environmental Sciences, Health Care, and Medicine. 1964 to present

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source covers nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, consumer health, and much more. This database is designed to meet the needs of researchers at healthcare facilities as well as nursing and allied health programs at academic institutions. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source provides abstracting and indexing for more than 525 titles, with over 470 titles in full-text. 1986 to present

PsycBOOKS from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a database of more than 16,000 chapters in PDF from over 1,000 books published by APA and other distinguished publishers. The database includes most scholarly titles published by APA from copyright years 1953 - 2005. It also includes 100 out-of-print books and a total of more than 400 classic books of landmark historical impact in psychology. 1965 - present.

PsycCRITIQUES is a database of full-text reviews of current books, some popular films, and comparative reviews of books. It replaced the APA print journal Contemporary Psychology: APA Review of Books as of January 2005. Weekly releases include current year copyright book reviews. 1995 - present.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database with more than 510 full text titles covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

PsycINFO covers over 1300 professional and academic journals, dissertations and book chapters on psychology and related disciplines. It is updated quarterly. 1967 to present.

SciFinder Scholar is the online version of Chemical Abstracts and is available in the MSB E680 Computer Lab and Wherry Hall Rm. 121.  Also, the SciFinder CD may be checked out from Reserve and loaded on an office or home computer.  SciFinder Scholar is the premier abstracting service for the field of chemistry and related areas. It covers around 8,000 journals and coverage goes back to 1907. SciFinder Scholar is a desktop research tool designed especially for use by students and faculty to easily access the information in the Chemical Abstracts database. SciFinder Scholar also includes the MEDLINE database.

SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a portal that includes the journals and country scientific indicators developed from the information contained in the Scopus® database, a database to which UC subscribes. These indicators could be used to assess and analyze scientific domains. See the SCImago Journal & Country Rank database review in Nature.

Scopus is an abstract database for science and social science scholarly literature that covers 25 million abstracts from over 14,000 titles across 4,000 publishers, providing access to over 25 million abstracts. (Citations: 1966 to present)
