The Reproductive Physiology Modules
represent the reproductive block of the physiology course
for first year medical students. Beginning with such topics
as the origins of cholesterol and pathways of steroid synthesis,
the modules lead students through the role of steroid hormones
in puberty, reproduction, and – in the female –
in pregnancy and lactation. Animations and clinical photographs
also address the issues of what happens when there is a deficiency
in a steroid hormone. Each module is narrated and includes
guide questions and objectives. A Blackboard course, currently
available only to UC College of Medicine students, also provides
interactive quizzes on the material covered.
